JBO

If I could pick one compilation and one label to introduce future generations to electronic music as it had evolved by the late 90s it would probably be this one.

Granted, by the time of this release there were a thousand genres and sub-genres as everyone sought not only to innovate but to capitalize on where music was headed. This one is solid and stands up over time and many of the artists on here are still doing their thing.

  1. I'm always looking for a little more perspective & understanding of the music that has so captured my listening world in the past 30-40 years. Many thanks.

  2. To clarify where I'm coming from: "electronic music" in my listening world began with my first hearing of Stockhausen's 'Gesang Der Junglinge' in 1975. I have moved backwards and so much further forward since then.

  3. Classic stuff there.

My gateway was realistically Cat People soundtrack with Giorgio Moroder's score and Risky Business with Tangerine Dream's score followed by the discovery of Jean Michel Jarre.

Hard to believe how far it's progressed. You're right it's a never ending journey backwards and forwards. Thanks for the feedback!
