So, Echospace. Has been an obsession since circa 2007 when The Coldest Season dropped. Rekindled my love for music. So, like any obsession, I followed the trails and connections to anything and everything touched by the Echospace guys. Their tentacles run deep.
Have no idea who i: is but the two vinyls were mastered by Steven Hitchell under his Soultek moniker and at his Souldubsounds studio/label. There are remixes from Soultek as well and Echospace in an earlier incarnation which, if I am not mistaken, are the earliest tracks under the Echospace name, at least that I've found in the discogs database.
Vinyls in FLAC. Still trying to source the Small Words EP below (currently at 320 kbps) and the Wide Road EP is one of those problem children I just have not been able to find. Haven't even seen a copy for sale so it's now on The Hit List.
Many thanks once again for some sick dub techno from the wilds of the echospace camp. had not heard of these releases either. still enjoying the spectral network posting, so this is a sunday treat. i mean, i would listen to stephen hitchell or rod modell brush their teeth if that was all that was out there - those guys are magic. many many thanks - really looking forward to hearing it.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome. Their tentacles are deep. These are great because it helps us to appreciate (in hindsight) how their sound has evolved.
ReplyDeleteCrazy thing about their music is that a lot of it goes back to the 90s and it is just getting fleshed out now.
I'm with you on the magic...I'm sure they could find rhythm in static.
I've got some of their live PAs, if you have an interest. Much more upbeat than their recorded works, but interesting nevertheless. Still trying to figure out how they put it all together live - I know the Roland Space Echo plays a major role.
ReplyDeletea beautiful gift, thanks for sharing. one love
