65 Days

The consequences of this election are more pronounced for my family than it is for many others although this makes us kindred spirits for others in the same row.

This places the hearing two days - 65days from today - before the inauguration. What this means remains to be seen.

However, the significance of this is both a tribute and a reminder.

  1. I truly hope you and your family makes it through this horrible mess. I am still struggling to deal with it all. I still have a hard time with the fact that a bunch of my conservative family (inc parents/sister) are okay with racism/bigotry/sexism/whatever. Ugh! Good luck, my friend. I cannot imagine what you are going through. Stay strong!!

  3. Hey, Kevin, your thoughts mean a lot. I really appreciate your consideration. Still a ways to go but overall it went ok.

Quite the complicated mess. I may provide an update on the larger blog in the hopes that maybe someone in a similar situation will be able to find some guidance.

Let's just say that in the immigration court there is no mercy under its all-seeing, paranoid eye.

    Thanks for the encouragement!

(P.S. I have a guy I work with who has a brother who is a sheriff out your way. Small world indeed.)

  4. I can see the atrocity going on in the airports now. I can only guess that the immigration court system right now is completely upside-down. We have made multiple donations to ACLU, and various immigrant rights defense organizations. This past week and a half has been so surreal. I struggle with the fact that America voted in this psycho nutjob. I despise the racism and bigotry (to name a few) that is still prevalent in this country. I wanted to believe we were rising above, but no.

It is causing me to take more action.

I am now in the Portland, Oregon area now. Love it! More job opportunities, and definitely more music viewing options.

  5. Good for you for moving to Portland. Spent a little bit of time that way. Was a little Seattle then, sure it's only grown. Very cool.

Besides, Trump is a 'blunt instrument' that Steve Bannon (i.e. former Breitbart head) and Steven Mitchell are using toward their own agenda. Trump is clueless, check out what Bannon has to say in his own words and interviews.

There are more of us than there are of them. We just need to stay united not in hatred of 'them' but in unity toward a common vision. Hate will only divide which is exactly what they thrive on.

We must rise above the hate and be bold enough to love, even to the point of loving our enemies. Nothing else will ever transcend the division.

Thanks for thinking of us during this time. Next date is in April, will be interesting to see what happens by then.
